THE YOGA CHANNEL AT SILVER STRAND BEACH

In line with the setting sun and facing the ocean is Silver Strand Beach's newest establishment, The Yoga Channel at Silver Strand Beach. Director Maribeth Hammond R.Y.T opened the doors in May 2002, bringing a wide variety of yoga classes to our community. The Yoga Channel at Silver Strand Beach has a class for everyone and every level, from beginning to experienced intermediate, seven days a week, mornings, afternoons and evenings. The Yoga Channel at Silver Strand Beach's instructors are highly qualified, attending to the individual needs of each student. In addition to group classes, Maribeth is available for PRIVATE SESSIONS. Maribeth Hammond R.Y.T completed intensive hatha yoga teacher training in 1987 and has taught in Los Angeles and Ventura counties for the past fifteen years. Her teaching promotes body alignment, flexibility, relaxation and spiritual health.

Maribeth Hammond, E-R.Y.T. 500, Director of The Yoga Channel, has earned recognition for the Yoga Alliance for her more than 7,500 hours of yoga instruction. Maribeth brings to her classes body alignment, flexibility, spiritual awareness and serenity. She offers private sessions, corporate and individual stress reduction programs, Yoga Alliance approved teacher training and accredited (earns CEC's) specialty classes, including wellness, restorative and relaxation programs.

Don Steensma R.Y.T. feels a daily yoga practice has changed his life and he enjoys giving that gift of yoga to others. He began practicing in 2000 and took teacher training at The Yoga Channel in 2004. Don leads a strong active class, but always stesses the uniquiness of each individual and the individuals need to develop their yoga as their own.

 

Flea Ryder, R.Y.T. 200 Fun and challenging classes for adults and kids, Flea brings new energy to her classes.

 

 

Jeneth Rundle, E-R.Y.T 500 began her journey of study and devotion to yoga in 1971 in the hatha yoga school of Indra Devi. In 1995 she began her practice of Iyengar style yoga, studying with senior teachers in the U.S. and in 1998 travelling to India to study under B.K.S. Iyengar. Her teaching style includes asana (poses including inversions), pranayama (breathing practices) and the sutras (philosophy). Jeneth brings to her teaching her zest for life, love of yoga and concern for each individual student. Beginning as well as advanced practitioners are welcome to attend her classes.

Jeri Van Osten began her yoga practice in 1992. She took teacher training at the Santa Barbara Yoga Studio and in Oxnard at Inner Gate Yoga. She loves helping her students feel better physically and mentally. Jeri teaches a wide variety of levels and styles of yoga. She has taught women in drug rehabilitation, seniors, teenagers, children and adults. She enjoys guiding her students safely as beginners and on to other levels while spreading the Joy that yoga offers.

 

Margaret Remmen, R.Y.T. 200 completed her 200 hour teacher training with Maribeth Hammond in 2005. Using elements from many schools, Margaret guides students toward strength and balance. A focus on the breath helps students to find their own inner stillness and serenity. She brings to her teaching a deep love of yoga and concern for the individual.

 

Lori (LB) Bates R.Y.T. 200 - began formally practicing and studying yoga in 2000. She completed her 200 hour teacher training with Maribeth Hammond in 2005. LB enjoys sharing her practice with others. She is also a certified massage therapist specializing in stress reduction.

Patsy Higgins R.Y.T. 200 - Patsy began studying yoga in 2003. She received her certification under Maribeth Hammond at The Yoga Channel. As a participant in the aging population, her interests lie in bringing the benefits of yoga to those who have physical limitations, requiring the use of a chair and/or other props.

Heidi Stok, R.Y.T. - Heidi has been practicing yoga for 9 years and teaching Hatha yoga for 5 years. Heidi feels teaching yoga is her calling. She has volunteered to teach yoga to children in elementary and middle schools, and to lower income and non English speaking adults. She hopes to bring yoga into the school curriculum where the body, mind and soul connection is learned at a much earlier time in life.

Jennifer Banando - Jennifer began practicing yoga in Manhattan, NY in 2003 to complement her running marathons. In addition to a challenging physical workout, she noticed the impact her practice had on other areas of her life. As she became aware of an increased sense of peace, balance, and serenity she became more devoted to a regular practice. She earned her certification at The Yoga Channel under the director, Maribeth Hammond. She enjoys teaching all levels, prenatal, energetic flow, gentle and stretch classes. Jennifer looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm and encourages her students to put ego aside and be willing to make mistakes on the mat in pursuit of personal growth.
